Star

Sweet Star is a 6-year-old beam of sunshine! She came to us a year ago from a puppy mill where she was bred for sale and lived in a small shed. Despite her past, Star is spunky, full of love, and gentle, greeting both humans and dogs with kisses. She loves to nap by your side, soaking up all the hugs and kisses you can give.

Ideal Home

Star would thrive in a home with a fenced yard, where she can happily eliminate after finding the perfect spot.

Ongoing Health

Star was recently diagnosed with a torn cruciate and will be undergoing orthopedic surgery on June 19th to repair it. She is currently recovering in our Safe Haven Sanctuary.

Training & Support

Star may occasionally eliminate on dog beds (1-2 times a week), which might be a marking behavior from her past. Her foster mom has found success by removing beds before feeding and ensuring Star has a potty break immediately after eating. Star is also let out every 3 hours during the day and does well overnight. However, for the first few months in a new home, we recommend using diapers at night as a precaution. Star does not enjoy being crated, and this is not recommended for her.
