About Trix

Trix is an 8-month-old, 35-pound female Pitbull mix with the sweetest, smartest soul, though she's a bit shy! Trix and her brother were surrendered to a shelter in Houston. While her brother has found his forever home, Trix needed extra time in foster care to build her confidence. She was significantly undersocialized early in life, and her baseline is fear of humans. However, she has never shown any reactivity and simply looks for a safe place to hide when unsure. She is gentle, quiet, and incredibly observant, picking things up quickly. With patience and intentional time spent building trust, she becomes more comfortable and even enjoys playing with toys and curling up with her humans. Trix does well with other dogs after proper acclimation and would thrive with a confident canine companion. She is housebroken, loves her crate, and is learning to walk on a leash. She has been around children and is quiet. Her history with cats is unknown. Trix is a low-rider mix who will likely be a medium-sized dog when fully grown.

Ideal Home

Trix needs a home where someone is around more often than not, as she's still a puppy and building trust takes time and consistency. She is not a ready-made confident dog and requires patience, compassion, and commitment. Adopters without another dog should have a thoughtful plan for socialization and confidence building.

Ongoing Health

Trix is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. No specific health conditions are mentioned.

Training & Support

Trix is housebroken and crate-trained. She is learning to walk on a leash. Due to her shyness, she will need consistent reinforcement and positive experiences to continue building her confidence and trust.
