Henry in TN

Henry is a handsome 9-year-old male red smooth coat Dachshund weighing 16.2 lbs. He was adopted in 2020 and returned to the rescue through no fault of his own. Henry is a very loving and loyal companion to his family, but he's not fond of strangers and will voice his opinions. He's looking for his last forever home where he can truly shine.

Ideal Home

Henry would thrive in a quiet home with few visitors. He needs a securely fenced yard and cannot live in an apartment, high-rise, or condo due to barking at outside noises. He would be fine with another small senior pet, but no cats. He is not recommended for homes with children under 5, or families planning to have children during his lifetime, but can do well with adult children.

Ongoing Health

Henry is up-to-date on his vaccinations, including DHPP (expires 2/23/26) and Rabies (expires 2/23/26). His monthly heartworm prevention is NexGard (due 5/5/26), and his ProHeart injection is due again on 2/23/27. He has no special health needs.

Training & Support

Henry is house-trained and crate-trained, though he doesn't particularly care for his crate. He is leash-trained and will need continued work on walks to help him get his weight down. He will need a strong pack leader who is willing to work with him, especially around strangers.
