From Tragedy to Hope — Meet Chula

Chula is a senior, 61.2 lb Shar Pei/Lab mix with soulful eyes. She was living the dream with her dad until he passed away unexpectedly. After a traumatic experience, Chula was brought to the rescue with her brother, Booger. For months, Chula only trusted one person from her past life. Her healing truly began when she met Chance, another resident who had also faced a tough life. Together, they brought each other back to life. Now, Chula runs and plays, walks on leash, and enjoys meeting new people on her own terms. Her friendship with Chance has given her a second chance at happiness.

Ideal Home

Chula would thrive in a calm home with a fenced yard. She is not suited for homes with small children, cats, or tiny dogs due to her past and her cautious nature. She would ideally love to be adopted with her best friend, Chance, but would also do well with another friendly, larger companion dog.

Ongoing Health

Chula requires daily thyroid medication, which is easy to manage.

Training & Support

Chula is house-trained and tidy. She enjoys toys, playtime, and watching TV. She needs an experienced, patient adopter who will let her bloom and build trust.

Transportation

Chula is currently in Texas. Transport is available to WA, OR, Midwest, and East Coast (excluding RI & MA) for an additional fee of $225.
