Junior Bear looks like a perfect blend of a wise old grandpa, a baby polar bear, and Sid from Ice Age! When he first arrived, he was in rough shape, but seeing him blossom has been truly special. His coat is already growing back beautifully, and while we can't say for sure how fluffy he'll get, he's certainly getting cuter every day. With his expressive face, that adorable little tongue that always seems to have something to say, and his shy, gentle nature, Junior has a way of melting hearts.
Ideal Home
Junior would thrive in a home with patient, understanding individuals who are willing to go slow as trust is built. He needs a home that will meet him where he's at emotionally. While he could potentially do well in a quieter apartment, a small yard would greatly help him settle in and build confidence. He would do best with lower to medium-energy, respectful dogs that will give him space and not overwhelm him socially. He was respectful around a resident cat and a sleepover can be arranged to test this further.
Ongoing Health
Junior is a Great Pyrenees/Lab mix, approximately 6 years old and around 50 lbs. As with any rescue, his exact breed and age are a mystery.
Training & Support
Junior is a slow burn with new people and environments and needs time to settle in. Baby talk, soft tones, and allowing him to approach on his own terms work wonders. He can become uncomfortable with too much touch too quickly, but with calm and respectful approaches, he builds trust beautifully. He is crate trained and quiet in the home. He walks well on leash but can freeze if too much pressure is applied; patience and allowing him to lead at his own pace are key.
