About Pearlie

Pearlie is a 5-year-old, 50lb spayed female pittie mix with a striking snowy coat, soulful eyes, and a heart that's learning to feel safe again. Once too scared to leave her kennel, she now trots out with growing confidence, revealing her affectionate, silly, and deeply loyal personality. She just needs a patient, understanding home to continue helping her blossom. Pearlie adores kids, has lived with children from 3 to 18 years old, and is loving and gentle. While she can get a bit jumpy when excited, supervision with smaller kiddos is recommended. She is fully house-trained, does great in a crate, and prefers her own space for meals and treats. Pearlie’s energy level is low to medium; she enjoys activity but doesn't require a super high-energy home and would do best in a calmer environment where she can decompress and feel secure at her own pace. She loves her stuffies and giving kisses, bonding deeply with her people. Pearlie can be fearful when meeting strangers, sometimes barking or avoiding them due to past experiences, but she is making incredible progress and will need time, patience, and a gentle approach to build trust. She's also nervous in the car and a bit scared of the dark outside, but with support, she's gaining confidence.

Ideal Home

Pearlie’s ideal home is one that moves at her pace – calm, patient, and understanding of her journey. Someone who sees the beauty in a dog who needs a little extra time and will celebrate every small win along the way. Pearlie prefers to do her own thing around other dogs and isn't much of a player, but she coexists well with dogs in the 50-80 lb range. She can be a bit socially unsure, especially during introductions, so slow, structured meet-and-greets are important. She doesn't need another dog to be happy but could live with the right calm, respectful companion.

Ongoing Health

Pearlie is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.

Training & Support

Pearlie is fully house-trained and does great in a crate. Leash walking is a work in progress, but with consistency and patience, she'll continue to improve and gain confidence. When meeting strangers, Pearlie can be fearful; this comes from her past, not her heart. She has likely experienced physical abuse, and while she has already made incredible progress, she will need time, patience, and a gentle approach to continue building trust. She's also nervous in the car and a bit scared of the dark outside, but with support, she's steadily gaining confidence.
