Victoria is a beautiful 5-year-old female Husky mix who weighs approximately 48 lbs. She was rescued from the streets of Saltillo, Mexico, after being found hungry, tired, and thirsty. Despite her rough start, Victoria is a grateful, confident, and noble dog who loves people and enjoys a good cuddle. She has a wonderful smile and a playful spirit, though she can be a bit of a food guardian and may need to eat separately to avoid conflict. Victoria is crate and leash trained and eager to please.
Ideal Home
Victoria would thrive in a home with homeowners who have a fenced backyard. Active families who enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and long walks would be a great fit. She needs a family with an open mind about the needs and behaviors of rescued animals, ideally with experience in dog behavior and training. Patience and high tolerance are essential, as she is not house-trained.
Ongoing Health
Victoria arrived with severe malnutrition, which has led to the loss of most of her teeth; she only has a few molars remaining. The veterinarian believes this is a result of the malnutrition. She has received extensive veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, DHPPI, Rabies, and Bordetella vaccinations, deworming, and tested negative for heartworm. She is up-to-date on her monthly Nexgard Spectra (fleas, ticks, and heartworm) preventive.
Training & Support
Victoria is not house-trained and will require ongoing effort in this area. She also needs to eat in a crate or separate area to prevent food aggression and potential fights with other pets. Her rescuers have provided a solid foundation with crate and leash training, and she is eager to please, which will be a great asset for further training.
