About Monika

Monika is a sweet 1-year-old female Labrador mix who weighs approximately 26 lbs. She was rescued in March 2024 from the streets of Saltillo, Mexico, along with her mother and siblings. Monika and her littermates were initially very fearful and hid from humans, but with patience, love, and affection, they have learned to trust and are now playful, funny, and very food-motivated! Monika is a noble and submissive girl who is a little shy, reserved, and cautious. She needs a patient and loving home to help her fully blossom and trust her new family.

Ideal Home

  • A home with a fenced backyard.
  • An active family that enjoys daily walks or hiking.
  • A family willing to give a rescued pet at least 3 months to show their best personality.
  • A family with an open mind about the needs and behaviors of rescued street animals, understanding their need for protection and education.
  • A family with experience in dog behavior and training.
  • A family with high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies.

Ongoing Health

  • Spay/Neuter Certificate
  • Vaccinated with 2 DHPPI shots, Rabies, and Bordetella.
  • Dewormed.
  • 4DX Test and Certificate.
  • Heartworm test Negative Certificate.
  • Receives monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive for fleas, ticks, and heartworm.
  • Health Certificate included.
  • Vaccination booklet provided.

Training & Support

Monika is not house-trained. The rescue team emphasizes that due to the sheer number of animals they care for, they are unable to house-train each one individually. They invest heavily in the physical and emotional rehabilitation of their rescued pets and need adopters to understand this aspect of rescue.
