Rufus has the kindest eyes you'll ever see, and at just 2 years old, this 15 lb Yorkie/Lhasa Apso mix is ready to leave his past behind and find his forever family. He's a little underweight right now but is expected to reach a healthy 18-20 lbs. Rufus was found abandoned at an apartment complex and left to fend for himself for days, but thankfully, a kind soul stepped in to help him until rescue could take him in. Despite his rough start, Rufus is incredibly sweet, trusting, and eager to give love. He's a true "Velcro dog" who wants to be wherever you are, whether that's snuggled on the couch, following you from room to room, or happily resting in your lap. He's affectionate, gentle, and has a happy, easygoing nature that makes him a joy to be around.

Rufus is looking for a true companion – a loyal sidekick, couch buddy, and walking partner who will love him with their whole heart. He deserves a family who will cherish him and never leave him behind again.
Ongoing Health
Rufus is expected to require regular grooming due to his Yorkie/Lhasa Apso mix, to keep his coat healthy and prevent matting.
Training & Support
Rufus is crate trained and settles quietly when needed. He still has a playful side and occasionally offers gentle play nibbles. He is still working on house training, but this is expected to improve with a consistent routine and now that he has been neutered.

Rufus is currently located in Austin, Texas, but can be transported once matched with an approved adopter. Transport is included in the adoption donation.
