Meet Ponderosa, or "Pondsy" as we affectionately call him! This handsome, almost-2-year-old Shepherd/Lab mix is about 60 pounds of pure sunshine, goofiness, and the "goodest boy" energy you could ask for. Pondsy has a gorgeous, shiny black coat and big, warm brown eyes that will melt your heart. When he sees his favorite people, get ready for his signature "Pondsy Wiggle" – his tail goes into overdrive, and he’ll happily flop over for belly rubs. He truly makes every day an adventure, whether he's hiking, walking, or just napping in the car. He's a curious, silly pup always ready for fun, but he’s also a total snuggle bug who loves to relax after a good adventure.
Ideal Home
Pondsy adores other dogs and would thrive in a home with a friendly, medium-energy female dog who enjoys playtime. However, he'd also be perfectly content as your one and only furry companion. He's best suited for a home without cats, as they are a bit too fascinating for him. He's also not the best fit for young children, as they can be overwhelming. Teenagers (13+) and adults, though, are perfect – he bonds deeply and will be your most devoted shadow. While apartment living on the first floor could work with enough exercise and mental stimulation, a yard for him to play in would make him extra happy.
Ongoing Health
Pondsy is a trooper who underwent leg surgery and physical therapy. He's come out stronger and happier than ever! His back leg has a unique character now, which is part of his charm, but it doesn't slow down his enthusiasm for running, playing, and zooming.
Training & Support
Pondsy is a young pup with lots of personality! Our trainers have assessed his behavior and created individualized plans to help him prepare for his future family, including crate training, potty training, and leash walking. He's already participated in group training and socialization playgroups to help him stay confident and well-rounded.

Transportation
Pondsy is located in Texas. We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our USDA-certified transport system, ensuring safe and comfortable travel with 24/7 care. Drop-off locations are available in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI, and Canada. Canadian adopters can arrange pick-up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT. Please note that Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area. A $87 surcharge applies due to rising transportation costs.
