Daisy Mae is a beautiful 2-year-old, 35lb spayed female pittie mix who has overcome a difficult start in life. Rescued as part of a police confiscation case for abuse and neglect, she weighed just 18 lbs at six months old. It took months before she learned that a gentle hand could mean love, not harm. Today, Daisy Mae is a happy, affectionate, and playful girl ready to find a family who will give her the safety and devotion she's always deserved. She's outgoing, smart, and affectionate, loving car rides, heavy chew toys, and being near her people. While she may act shy at first when meeting strangers, she warms up quickly and loves attention once she feels secure. Daisy Mae is the definition of resilience, a loving, loyal companion who greets every day with joy and trust, looking for a home that understands her past, provides gentle structure, and celebrates the happy, goofy, affectionate girl she's become.
Ideal Home
Daisy Mae adores kids of all ages and is gentle and loving with them. She doesn't need another dog in the home to be happy and would do wonderfully as an only pet. If placed with another dog, slow introductions are essential, and she'd do best with a calm, confident companion who can handle her enthusiastic play style.
Ongoing Health
Daisy Mae is in great shape and continues to thrive in foster care. She does have slightly runny eyes, which her foster suspects are due to environmental allergies that flare up during rainy times of the year. This doesn't require any treatment beyond occasional gentle cleaning and awareness of seasonal changes.
Training & Support
Daisy Mae is great on leash, fully house-trained, and crate-trained, sleeping soundly through the night. Because of her past experience with food insecurity, Daisy Mae eats and enjoys treats in her crate to help her feel safe. She may bark at other dogs walking by when she's eating and is happiest when given space for mealtime and a calm environment where she can unwind. She benefits from slow introductions with other dogs and does best with balanced or confident dogs who can handle her enthusiasm.
