Fia ("Fiadh"): Not at shelter (Maia)

Fia is a beautiful adult female dog with Border Collie and Great Pyrenees in her mix. She's been treated for tick-borne illness and is no longer emaciated. Her dual heritage sometimes leads to conflicting instincts – her Border Collie side wants to herd and chase, while her Pyrenees side wants to guard. She's learning to manage these traits during walks and is making great progress in holding back from chasing squirrels and rabbits. Fia is housetrained and is also learning to manage her interactions with new people.

Ideal Home

We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice.

Fia is housetrained. She is learning to manage her instincts to herd/chase and to guard, as well as learning to manage herself around new people.

• Unaltered puppies under six months of age can only be adopted by residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County.
• Unaltered adult pets six months or older must be sterilized before adoption outside of our local area.
• We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption.
