DOLLY PARTON

Meet Dolly Parton! This sweet 13-year-old, 65lb Pit Bull mix has a mysterious past, having been found at Hank’s Lake and brought to safety. Dolly is a bit shy and reserved at first but blossoms into a cuddlebug once she trusts you. She loves to be petted and scratched, and her favorite volunteers enjoy sitting with her for comforting cuddles. She enjoys cruising the yard, playing with toys, and soaking up the sun or playing in the snow.

Ideal Home

Dolly would do best in an all-adult home with no other dogs, cats, or other animals. She has done well with adult volunteers, but a home with children is not recommended. Due to her neurological damage, a securely fenced yard is a must to keep her safe and happy. Experience with Pit Bull Terriers or large dogs is preferred.

Ongoing Health

Dolly has neurological damage to her head, neck, right shoulder, and right front leg. She is on Gabapentin, Carprofen, and Apoquel medication for life. Dolly's diet consists of salmon only.

Training & Support

Dolly is deaf and has learned sign language to communicate. It's important to approach her from the right side and ensure she sees you before petting or leashing. She does resource guard and does not want anyone near her food bowls or blankets. She will need patience, time, and consistent training to feel comfortable and secure in her new home.

Transportation

Dolly is located at our facility and can be transported to approved adopters.
