Meet Edie, a 7-year-old, 11-pound Maltese/Yorkie mix with a gentle, sweet nature and a soft, affectionate personality. Edie does have Cushing's disease and will require lifelong medication and ongoing care to help keep her feeling her best.
Edie is also currently heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment. She will need to return to NMDR for her scheduled care, and adopters must be committed to strictly following the treatment plan as outlined by NMDR veterinarians to ensure her full recovery. She will also need to return for a dental procedure.
Despite everything she has been through, Edie remains a loving little dog with a big heart. She enjoys calm companionship and being close to her people. She is friendly and enjoys attention once she feels comfortable, often leaning into gentle affection and quietly soaking up love from those she trusts. Edie appreciates a calm environment where she can relax and feel secure.
She does well with other dogs and can enjoy their company, making her a nice fit for a home with polite, gentle canine companions.
Edie is looking for a patient, loving home that will support her through her recovery and continue helping her build confidence as she heals and settles into her new life.
Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!
