Jake

Jake is a handsome 85lb, 4-year-old Labrador Retriever mix with a heart of gold. He came to us when his previous owner fell ill and sadly passed away. Jake was the last stray his owner rescued, and though he doesn't remember his past life, he was found as a stray. Jake is a sweet and gentle soul who loves to be by his human's side. He enjoys going for walks and is always happy to follow you around. He's a big love once he gets to know you and enjoys chewing on marrow bones and is very food motivated!

Ideal Home

Jake would thrive in a quiet home environment with no younger children, as he can be skittish around them. He would do best with older children who understand how to interact respectfully with animals. While he has lived with other dogs in the past and can get along with them with very slow introductions, he would likely be happiest as the "one and only" pet or with just one other dog. He has not been around cats, but can be cat tested upon request.

Jake is fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped.

Training & Support

Jake is house-trained and crate-trained, though he is currently living outside due to not getting along with other dogs. He knows his name, responds when called, and walks very well on a leash. He is working on becoming more comfortable with new people and situations due to his past experiences. He is sensitive and appreciates when his humans show him where their hands are when approaching and prefers a pet on the head first.
