Teddy, born around March 1, 2015, is a 15-pound sweetheart who loves life and his humans. He came to us when his previous owner could no longer care for him. Teddy is a well-behaved companion who rides beautifully in the car and walks nicely on a leash. He gets along well with other dogs, and we believe he would be fine with cats, though we can arrange a cat test if you're interested. Teddy isn't much of a barker, but he might let out a brief, pathetic howl when left alone before settling in comfortably. He should do well with older, respectful children. Adopting a senior dog like Teddy means higher vet bills and a shorter time together, but it's an incredibly rewarding experience you'll never forget.
Ideal Home
A home that can provide a joyful sanctuary for Teddy to live out his remaining days. He should be fine with older, respectful children and has shown he is good with other dogs.
Ongoing Health
Teddy may have protein-losing nephropathy or Cushing's disease. He also has bilateral grade 2 luxating patellas (non-painful and common), lenticular sclerosis (normal aging of the eyes), and several small, non-cancerous tumors. He previously tested positive for Lyme disease but is now negative. Medical records from 2016 suggest he may have been hit by a car in the past. Prospective adopters should be prepared for potentially higher veterinary expenses.
Training & Support
Teddy is a good leash walker and rides well in the car. He may have a brief howling episode when left alone, but he settles down.
