About Minnie

Hi there! My name is Minnie, but my foster parents affectionately call me Minnie Moo Bear, so perhaps that's my full name! I'm a three-year-old bundle of youthful energy with beautiful spots from my cattle dog heritage and a smile that could win awards. I made my way here from Fargo with the help of some wonderful volunteers and have been settling in nicely with my foster family. I'm a go-with-the-flow kind of dog; if we're just hanging out, I'm happy to nap and cuddle. But if we're heading outside, I'm raring to go! I'm still perfecting the "bring the ball back" part of fetch, but I'm a fantastic ball chaser!

Ideal Home

I am potty trained and haven't had any accidents since arriving at my foster home. I'm also pretty good at doing my business right away when we go outside before playing. I love my kennel and will happily rest in it for naps or when I need some personal space. I sleep soundly in my kennel at night without any whining, and I appreciate having my own separate space from my foster brothers. I think I would enjoy a home without cats, as I'd love to have all the space to myself.

Training & Support

I know basic commands like sit, lay down, and shake (though I call it "paw"). I'm working on a "boop" trick where I touch my nose to an outstretched finger. I'm generally good on walks, but my prey drive for squirrels and rabbits can cause me to pull when I spot one, so I'm actively working on this. My foster mom wants to take me on her runs, which sounds like a lot of fun, so I'm focused on improving my impulse control during activities.

I have two foster brothers who are cats. The older one and I keep our distance, which suits me fine! The younger one and I do a lot of sniffing, but he doesn't appreciate it when I try to herd him. Sometimes I get a little upset when they walk past my kennel at night. I don't have recent experience with other dogs, but I'm so easy-going, I bet I would get along great with them, as long as they match my energy!

I can be a little timid when I first meet new people, but once I warm up, I'll flop onto my back for belly rubs. If you stop petting me, I'll stretch out my paws to let you know I'm enjoying it and want more! I'm a definite velcro dog who wants to be included in whatever you're doing. I would love to find a home that offers a variety of activities, from lazy days at home watching TV and being a couch potato, to active days of running, hiking, or even longer walks, and perhaps even adventure days exploring new places. I'm building my confidence in new environments, and once I do, I'll be your perfect adventure buddy!
