Annie is a petite, approximately 11-week-old female small breed mix with a big personality! She weighs about 7.4 lbs and is a bundle of fun and curiosity. Annie is very observant and loves to study anything that piques her interest, from noises to birds. She thrives on mental stimulation and training, and would do best with an adopter who enjoys teaching new tricks and engaging in one-on-one activities. Annie isn't a quiet dog; she loves to communicate and will happily train her humans! She enjoys meeting new people and other dogs, and is learning to use her voice to her advantage.
Ideal Home
Annie would love a fenced-in yard to explore, but it's not a requirement. She's looking for a home where she can continue her training and socialization, and where her adopter will provide plenty of mental exercise. While she can be happy as an only dog, she would also enjoy a playful canine companion. She has shown she can learn to coexist with cats, initially chasing them but then leaving them alone. With supervision, she should be fine with children of any age, but adopters should be mindful of her small size and sharp puppy teeth, ensuring she's not handled too roughly.
Ongoing Health
Annie will need to complete her puppy vaccinations and will receive her rabies vaccine once she is old enough. A condition of adoption is that Annie must be spayed by September 30, 2026. If you are not willing to abide by this state-required regulation, please do not apply. Adopters will be required to schedule this appointment with one of the clinics Grass Roots Rescue works with in Delaware when Annie is approximately 4.5 months old. Owners must live within one hour of Delaware and be willing to travel for this pending appointment; no exceptions.
Training & Support
Annie is making great progress with housebreaking, having no accidents in her crate and doing well on a schedule. She's learning to use a pee pad indoors if she doesn't make it outside and is beginning to alert to the door to go out. She is crate-trained and sleeps through the night quietly. While she does well in the crate, she can become bored and may tear up items, so providing her with appropriate chew toys and activities is important. She walks well on a leash, though she pulls a little, which is barely noticeable given her small size. She enjoys car rides when on someone's lap but may whine a little in the crate.
