Dolly: Adopt or Forever Foster

Meet Dolly, a 50-pound brindle beauty with a heart of gold and an abundance of energy! She is a smart pup who is crate and house trained, and knows her basic commands. She is doing better every day on leash training but still can pull a bit. Dolly's favorite pastimes are zipping around a yard, splashing in pools, and chasing her favorite ball. She is full of energy and would thrive in an active home with a fenced-in yard to expend all that energy, or alternatively an adopter who is active and takes daily walks. Dolly is a natural swimmer and loves playing in the water.

Dolly is a happy and positive pup with a silly and joyful personality. She always has a smile on her face and is a joy to be around. She gets along fine with dogs when she meets them out and about on walks, but she is possessive of her home and her things, so needs a home without other animals.

Dolly's adoption fee has been mostly sponsored for the right home. She's also available as part of our new Forever Foster program, where we can place her with an approved applicant as a member of their family at no cost, and we will cover all her vetting – regular, emergency, preventatives, vaccines – for life, as well as extra supports like transportation to appointments and "boarding" if needed for vacations, for life! Ideal Home

Dolly would thrive in an active home with a fenced-in yard to expend all that energy, or alternatively an adopter who is active and takes daily walks. She needs a home without other animals.

Ongoing Health

Dolly's adoption fee includes all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick, etc.), spay/neuter, and microchip. If Dolly is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule her alteration ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic.

Training & Support

Dolly is doing better every day on leash training but still can pull a bit; a no-pull harness is a great help with this! Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as Dolly adapts to a new environment. We also highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. We provide a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue.

Transporation

Dolly is located in Rochester, NY. Our adoption area is within a several-hour radius of us in Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours is allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks). We offer transportation assistance for approved applicants.
