Boone is a 2-year-old, 75-pound Great Pyrenees with the heart of a gentle giant. He might look like he patrols national parks for a living, with his majestic, fluffy exterior, but beneath it all, he's a total sweetheart who lives to please his people. Boone adores affection, and earning your praise is his ultimate joy. He loves a good head scratch and will lean into you, becoming your personal weighted blanket. He's also highly motivated by treats, which will quickly make you his favorite human! Boone was surrendered to a shelter through no fault of his own and was diagnosed with heartworms. Thankfully, a wonderful foster stepped in, and Boone is now undergoing treatment and soaking up all the love he deserves. He's proving that sometimes the sweetest dogs are the ones who just needed someone to believe in them.
Ideal Home
Boone is a bit reserved at first, especially with men, but patience and treats will win him over. He's indifferent to cats, viewing them simply as "yep... that's definitely a cat." He hasn't met other dogs in foster care but is likely to do well with a respectful canine companion. While he hasn't met children, he's thought to do well with them, but remember he's a young, large dog and can be enthusiastically fluffy. Boone enjoys the outdoors but prefers cooler temperatures and would appreciate air conditioning on hot days. He's happy in a home with a securely fenced yard or an apartment with plenty of leash-walk adventures.
Ongoing Health
Boone is currently undergoing heartworm treatment.
Training & Support
Boone is potty-trained and knows commands like "sit" and "come." He has free-roam privileges and is trustworthy in the house, not chewing on inappropriate items or causing trouble. He is not a jumper and takes treats politely. While he enjoys fetch, he might remind you that you were the one who threw the ball! He's an excellent listener, with his foster only hearing him bark once.
