About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, neutered male Hound/Retriever mix who weighs 56 pounds. This sweet boy, also known as Buddy, was rescued from the streets and then saved from the county shelter in San Antonio. He's a resilient and adaptable dog who is looking for his forever family to shower with affection and cuddles. Comet's favorite thing is to please, making him easy to train and eager to learn. He has a moderate energy level and loves to zoom around!

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home with a resident dog sibling to play and snuggle with. He has been around indoor cats and children and does well with both. However, due to his herding instincts, we recommend a home with children aged 10 and older, or those who can understand and respect animal behavior cues. Comet can be a bit wary of men, but with patience and consistency from his new family, he will certainly warm up.

Ongoing Health

Comet is a healthy boy and has no known ongoing health conditions.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He sleeps through the night in his kennel without fuss and doesn't pull on the leash. He's had no accidents in the house and will alert you when he needs to go out. While he generally doesn't have separation anxiety, he does love to taste test things, so he's crated when unsupervised. Comet is a quick learner and responds well to positive reinforcement, with no need for harsh corrections.
