Blossom is a beautiful Great Pyrenees girl with a gentle nature, soulful eyes, and the heart of a true guardian. At approximately 3 years old, she has already shown incredible devotion and bravery as the mother of seven puppies who were being raised outdoors in difficult and dangerous conditions. When one of her puppies, Fern, was attacked by a coyote, Blossom fearlessly fought the coyote to protect her baby, suffering bites herself in the process. Thanks to her courage, Fern survived. It is impossible to meet Blossom and not see what an extraordinary and loving dog she truly is. Despite everything she has endured, Blossom remains incredibly sweet with people and has done wonderfully with children, cats, and other dogs. She has a calm and affectionate temperament and enjoys companionship and feeling part of the family.
Ideal Home
As a true Great Pyrenees, Blossom does have typical breed traits that her future home will need to understand and respect. She is intelligent, independent, observant, and has a tendency to wander if not securely contained. Because of this, she will need a very secure yard and a home committed to keeping her safe. She would do best with adopters familiar with livestock guardian breeds or willing to learn about the unique needs and personality traits that come with them. Blossom thrives with canine companionship and would likely do best in a home with another friendly dog to help her feel settled and grounded. Once she feels safe and secure, she is an incredibly loyal and loving companion.
