Oaks

Meet Oaks! This handsome 1.5-year-old fellow is a wonderful mix of German Shorthaired Pointer and German Shepherd, weighing in at a healthy 48 pounds. Oaks is a smart and laid-back boy who bonds deeply with his family. He's described as a nice dog who is naturally a little protective, making him a great companion for a family where he can help them feel safe and secure. While he's a bit timid with strangers, he quickly becomes comfortable with his own people. He's also a moderate shedder with long legs, perfect for a walking or jogging buddy! Oaks is already doing great with six children, ages two and up, and six other dogs in his foster home.

Ideal Home

Oaks would be a fantastic addition to a family with children (we recommend ages 8 and up), and he's already shown he does well with other dogs. He'd be especially happy in a home where he can be a protector and companion, perhaps even for a dad who travels and wants peace of mind about his family's safety.

Ongoing Health

Oaks is neutered and healthy. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations and ready to go to his forever home!

Training & Support

Oaks is potty trained and doggy door trained. While he's smart, he doesn't seem to have a strong interest in retrieving. His foster family is working on exposing him to new environments and people to help him gain confidence.

Oaks is currently in Texas. He can be adopted locally, or we can arrange transport to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont, and along the East Coast.
