About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, 56-pound, neutered male hound/retriever mix who is as sweet and affectionate as they come! He was rescued from the streets and saved from the county shelter in San Antonio. Comet, also known as Buddy, is a resilient and adaptable dog who is looking for his forever family to shower with love and cuddles.

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home with a canine sibling to snuggle and play with. He has lived with indoor cats and children and does well with them, but we recommend a home with children aged 10 years or older who can understand and respect animal behavior cues. Comet has a bit of a herding instinct, so a home that can manage this would be ideal. He loves to run and play, showing off his "zoomies" with a balanced playstyle.

Ongoing Health

Comet is a healthy boy who has been neutered and is up-to-date on all his vaccinations.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He sleeps through the night in his crate without issue and does not pull on the leash. He is house-trained and will alert you when he needs to go potty. Comet doesn't seem to have separation anxiety, but he does enjoy "taste-testing" things, so he should be crated when unsupervised. While he adores his foster dad, Comet can be a bit wary of men. With patience and consistency, he will warm up and become your best boy! He is eager to please, making him easy to train without the need for harsh corrections.
