Meet Hjerte!
This lovely five-year-old Maremma/Kelpie/Catahoula Leopard Dog mix is a bright blend of loyalty, intelligence, and gentle sweetness, all wrapped in a striking white coat with black patches. Hjerte has a special way of communicating with her expressive eyes and body language, making every moment with her feel like a meaningful conversation. She enjoys life's simple pleasures with great enthusiasm, from joyful zoomies to happily chewing on her favorite bones. She also leans in for affection with a calm, content presence. With a medium energy level, Hjerte balances playful bursts with quiet companionship, often choosing to stay close to her people or patrol her surroundings like a devoted guardian.
Ideal Home
Hjerte would thrive in a loving home where she can be the only dog, allowing her to fully relax and focus on her connection with her family. She has had challenging interactions with other dogs, including a bite incident with a smaller dog and moments of resource guarding with another similar-sized dog. Outside of the home, she remains calm and non-reactive on walks. She is compatible with cats and would do well with a caregiver who values her unique blend of guardian instincts and affectionate companionship.
Ongoing Health
Hjerte is house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She may require occasional care to manage a tendency toward UTIs due to her hooded vulva.
Training & Support
Hjerte is well-versed in obedience training and confidently responds to sit, stay, lie down, and come. She thrives with structure and purpose and shines when given a job. Her routine suits her well, with twice-daily meals she prefers to graze on and restful nights spent comfortably in her crate. She benefits from a caregiver who understands her need for space and can support her with continued positive reinforcement and thoughtful management, especially in her interactions with other dogs.
