Meet Axel Rose! This handsome 26lb Basenji/Terrier mix, estimated to be born around April 5, 2024, is searching for his forever family. Axel is a friendly and outgoing pup who loves making new doggy friends of all sizes. He has a unique way of communicating his desire for attention, with happy barks that quickly turn into affectionate tail wags once he’s noticed. He's a well-behaved housemate, potty-trained, and enjoys relaxing by the window, but he also loves to zoom around the backyard and explore outdoors. Axel's journey began when he was found abandoned, but his loving and trusting nature shines through, making him eager to find a family who will cherish him forever. We're not sure how he feels about cats, but he can be tested for interested adopters. Axel Rose is a sweet, entertaining companion who will bring endless smiles and gratitude into your home.

Ideal Home

Axel would thrive in a home that can provide him with plenty of love and attention. He enjoys the company of other dogs and would likely do well with a canine sibling.

Axel is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered.

Training & Support

Axel is kennel and potty trained and does well inside the home. He is still working on his leash manners and would benefit from a family willing to help him continue building confidence on walks. Adopters are eligible for discounted training services with Curbed Behaviors Dog Training.

• We coordinate with multiple transport services that operate weekly to Eastern states and bi-weekly or monthly to Western states from Texas to your state or a neighboring state. These are ground transports using third party vehicles (vans/buses) converted for dog transport. Each adopter has the ability to track the van using the app Life360, and receives updates from transport along the way. Facebook chats are another resource to stay informed on tracking dogs on transport. Please be able to use one of these available services if you wish to follow your adopted dog on transport.
• Our adoption fees are based on the vetting we put into each dog. Fees for puppies (under 12 months) are higher because they require more vetting than dogs over 1 year.
• Listed breed and age are based on a best guess estimation by rescue and veterinary staff; DNA tests are not included in adoption.
• All of our adopters are invited to join our Alum Pupdates Facebook group, to share their story and their adorable pup with fellow Sunnyside Street Dogs adopters!

Axel is located in Houston, Texas. Transport is included in the adoption fee and pickup locations may vary, including to nearby towns or states.
