Rex is a joyful, playful, and energetic 3-year-old, 35 lb Cattle Dog mix who truly loves life. He’s not overly clingy but enjoys being near his people in his own gentle way. Rex has a fun personality and is always ready for adventure. He was rescued in May 2023 when he was only 2 months old and has spent his time growing up in a shelter, waiting for his forever family. He is the last puppy from his litter still hoping for a home. Rex’s mom was rescued from the streets and gave birth to 9 puppies shortly after. They stayed in a temporary home for about six weeks before moving to the shelter. All of Rex's siblings have found homes, but he is still waiting.
Ideal Home
Rex would thrive with an active and loving family that enjoys outdoor activities like running, hiking, and being included in everyday adventures. He needs a family willing to give him structure, patience, and love. A home with a fenced backyard is required. Rex is not house-trained, so patience and tolerance for a rescued puppy are essential.
Ongoing Health
Rex has received extensive health protocols, including a spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, a 4DX test, a negative heartworm test, and a monthly preventive treatment (Nexgard Spectra for fleas, ticks, and heartworm). He comes with a health certificate and vaccination booklet and is microchipped.
Training & Support
Rex is not house-trained. He is intelligent and eager to learn, walks well on a leash, and is crate-trained. Families with experience in dog behavior and training are preferred, along with an open conscience about the needs of rescued street animals and their journey toward protection and education. Adopters should be willing to wait at least 3 months to allow Rex to show his best personality.
