About Max Garrison

Meet Max Garrison.

They say a dog’s love is unconditional — but for Max Garrison, the world hasn’t always returned the favor. Max is 9 years young, weighs about 50 pounds, and is fully grown. While his exact breed mix is unknown, his records suggest Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever / Terrier, with a possible hint of shepherd. What truly defines Max is his gentle, loyal heart. He was once adopted as a puppy but was later found as a stray. Thankfully, a foster provided him with a loving home for nine months, during which he proved to be crate trained, potty trained, nondestructive, and quiet when left alone. He enjoyed the company of other dogs and walks. However, his foster placement ended due to his prey drive towards cats and chickens. He found a new home but was returned due to a family allergy. Now, Max is back at the shelter, and senior dogs like him struggle in kennel environments. Despite his past, Max remains the best boy – gentle, affectionate, and deeply devoted. He’s a wonderful snuggler, a quiet companion, and happiest when included. His beloved "emotional support ball" is his constant companion, providing comfort in a difficult situation. Max deserves a peaceful home where he can enjoy his golden years feeling secure, with a soft bed, head scratches, and a forever family.

Ideal Home

Max would do best in a home without cats or chickens. He can live happily with other dogs, though careful management of high-value toys is recommended.

Ongoing Health

Max is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on monthly prevention. He is healthy and ready to settle into his forever home.

Training & Support

Max is house-trained, crate-trained, and nondestructive when left alone. He enjoys walks and playtime.
