Meet Julio! This approximately 4-year-old French Poodle mix is around 22 pounds and still needs to gain some weight, ideally reaching about 33 pounds. Julio was found in rough shape, malnourished with wounds, but with veterinary care, good food, and lots of love, he's on the mend. Neighbors mentioned he spent much of his life chained up before he was found with a trailing leash. Despite his past, Julio is incredibly sweet, responding with pure joy to kindness. He settled into his foster home quickly, enjoying much-needed rest and revealing himself to be a wonderful companion.
Ideal Home
Julio is highly social and gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, children, men, and women. He needs a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He also needs a family with the genuine intention to rescue and a deep understanding of the needs of rescued animals, including their need for protection and education. Experience with dog behavior and training is preferred, or a commitment to hiring a trainer. High tolerance and patience for rescued pups are essential.
Ongoing Health
Julio is currently underweight and recovering from past neglect. He has received a health certificate, spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, microchip, a negative 4DX and heartworm test, and is on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive protection.
Training & Support
Julio is leash-trained and crate-trained, capable of holding it for 8-10 hours in his crate and will bark when he needs to go out. He is not house-trained, and adopters should be aware that our rescued dogs often require significant patience and understanding to adjust to new environments and build trust. Julio can be a little anxious when separated from his people due to his past, but his greatest desire is to belong. He has a unique quirk of carrying leashes, as if still learning he's no longer tied up.
