Rico

Meet Fredrico James III, affectionately known as Rico! This handsome 1.5-year-old German Shepherd mix is looking for his forever family after his previous owners had to relocate for work. Rico is a wonderful boy who is well-behaved at the vet and communicates his needs to go outside by pacing. He's crate trained, though he may bark if left alone for extended periods. While Rico isn't a fan of baths and tends to destroy plush toys, he absolutely adores hard toys and bones! He's friendly with men, women, and children, but due to his size, he can accidentally knock over smaller kids. His previous family mentioned he would "follow" cats and generally got along with other dogs after slow introductions. He did have one trial that didn't work out due to issues with other dogs, so he'll need a patient approach and a careful introduction to any resident pups. Rico is ready to be a loyal and loving companion.

Ideal Home

Rico is a large, energetic boy who can knock over small children, so a home with older children or a household without children would be best. He needs patient introductions to other dogs, and his past experiences suggest he may do best as the only dog in the home or with a very carefully selected canine companion.

Rico is neutered and vaccinated.

Training & Support

Rico is crate trained. He will need patient introductions to any resident dogs. He enjoys hard toys and bones, so providing these will help redirect his chewing behavior away from plush items.
