Teresa is a loving, gentle, and intelligent Labrador mix who is approximately 4 years old and weighs about 42 lbs. She has patiently waited for a family to call her own and is sociable and enjoys people. While she may be a bit cautious and shy at first due to past fear of rejection, her true affectionate, playful, and cuddly personality shines through once she feels safe. Teresa gets along well with dogs, children, men, and women, and has shown no negative reactions to cats in cages. She is a calm, balanced, and respectful dog who prefers peace. Her name comes from the neighborhood where she was found cruelly tied to a tree at just six months old, with a wire that had deeply cut into her neck. Despite her severe injuries and tick infestation, she was incredibly gentle. After being rescued, treated, and healed, she has proven to be a wonderful, obedient, affectionate, and smart dog.
Ideal Home
Teresa would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. She needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog and an open conscience about the needs of street animals. A home with experience in dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer, is highly recommended. High tolerance and patience are essential for this rescued pup.
Ongoing Health
Teresa has a scar on her neck from a past injury, but it does not affect her sweet spirit. She has received a spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, and has been dewormed. She is microchipped, tested negative for heartworm, and receives monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive protection for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. A health certificate and vaccine booklet are available.
Training & Support
Teresa is not yet fully house-trained and will require patience and understanding as she adjusts. She walks on a leash with guidance and is learning to follow her handler. She can be transported in a crate and may be nervous initially but settles down with time. She may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences and will need time to adapt to a new environment. Establishing a routine and clear boundaries will help her feel secure.
