Meet George!
George is a magnificent three-year-old Great Pyrenees/Saint Bernard mix who embodies steady loyalty and breathtaking presence. He's a handsome boy with a striking tricolor coat and a gentle demeanor, weighing in at a solid 112 pounds. George's past was challenging, but for the past 15 months, he has blossomed with a foster family who have shown him what it means to feel safe, loved, and understood. He's a dog who appreciates quiet companionship, happy to be by your side as you go about your day, offering a deep and unforgettable affection when he chooses to share it.
Ideal Home
George thrives in a calm, structured environment where trust is built over time. He needs ample space to roam and feel secure, making him most compatible with homes that are not apartments or small condos.
Ongoing Health
George is a sensitive soul who has made remarkable progress. He had one fear-based bite incident when a visitor moved too quickly and patted his head, an area sensitive due to past trauma. He also snapped (without contact) when a new person approached him face-to-face in an unfamiliar setting, a clear signal he needs personal space and time to feel comfortable. A professional trainer evaluated him and confirmed he is not aggressive but a thoughtful, sensitive dog. George also has some food-related guarding tendencies that will require mindful mealtime management.
Training & Support
George is house-trained, walks well on a leash, and knows several commands, including sit, down, shake, easy, and stay. He responds best to gentle guidance and clear routines. While he enjoys human company, he also values his personal space. He may be most compatible in a home without other male dogs, although he shares a balanced friendship with a female dog named Piper who encourages his confidence and joy. His compassionate trainers are offering ongoing support through video or phone consultations for his future family.
