Smokey

Meet Smokey! This handsome 2-year-old fellow is a 60-pound Cane Corso / Weimaraner mix who came to us as a stray. He's fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and ready to bring his sweet nature to a loving forever home. Smokey is a smart and quick learner, a total couch potato who enjoys both playtime with his canine friends and relaxing cuddles while watching his favorite shows. He's described as kind-hearted, affectionate, and incredibly gentle, with no mean bone in his body. Smokey walks beautifully on a leash, though he can be a bit nervous and bark out of excitement when meeting new people, he's easily redirected. He's also completely potty trained!

Ideal Home

Smokey would thrive in a home with a yard where he can play, and ideally, someone who works from home or is only away for short periods, as he experiences some separation anxiety. He'd also love a doggie companion to play with, but he would prefer a home without cats. Due to his shyness with new people, a low-traffic home would be ideal.

Ongoing Health

Smokey is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations.

Training & Support

Smokey is not a fan of crates and prefers not to be shut inside them. While he does cry a bit when left alone, he doesn't get destructive and eventually settles down. His separation anxiety makes him best suited for a house rather than an apartment. Gentle redirection is key when he's initially excited about strangers.

Smokey is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX. He is eligible for transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up.
