Hal is an approximately 9-year-old Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) mix, possibly with Pit Bull Terrier. He's a true rescue dog with a heart of gold! Hal was found tangled in a horse corral fence, underweight and missing many teeth, likely due to long-term neglect and starvation. He's received medical care, good food, and safety. An intestinal infection from last summer has been treated and has fully resolved. He is neutered and now enjoys kibble with canned food and soft toppers like sardines, yogurt, and fresh food to accommodate his worn-down and missing teeth. Hal is an easy-going, average-energy dog with a balanced temperament. He is great with adults and awesome with kids. He does well with his foster's family and enjoys walking acreage and exploring with his person. Hal's greatest joy in life is water; he absolutely loves to splash in pools or with a hose! He's not a high-maintenance dog—he's a grateful, seasoned soul who loves attention, enjoys playtime, and leans into affection.
Ideal Home
A calm, steady home where he can be someone's special dog. A home that provides daily walks, a little pool for summer splashing, toys, and car rides. Hal is not comfortable in crowded dog situations and prefers laid-back, respectful dogs who don’t pester him. Hyper, in-your-face dogs are not his style. He absolutely does not like cats. Loud four-wheelers bother him.
Ongoing Health
An intestinal infection from last summer has been treated with antibiotics and has fully resolved. He has worn-down and missing teeth, so he is fed kibble with canned food and soft toppers.
Training & Support
Hal handles new sights and sounds with quiet dignity. He sleeps in his dog house with shavings or in a crate inside during bad weather and doesn’t tear up his bedding.
