If happiness had a mascot, it would undoubtedly be Koi! This boy is the epitome of a "people's dog," spreading his wiggly affection and boundless enthusiasm for love wherever he goes. To him, being loved is an absolute thrill! The moment you start petting him, you can see him light up like it's the best day of his life – tail wagging, body wiggling, and a full-face smile. Standing still for love is just not his style!
Koi is estimated to be 1.5 years old and weighs 33 lbs. We suspect he's a mini Boxer mix, possibly with English Bulldog, but as a rescue, we cannot guarantee his breed or birthday. Koi enjoys adventure and is an eager explorer with basic leash skills that will polish to perfection with practice and gentle guidance. He checks in often and is happy to meet your expectations.
When it comes to other dogs, Koi is social and playful. He's polite during on-leash introductions, with a little friendly excitement showing through. However, his playful enthusiasm can sometimes be overwhelming for dogs who don't match his energy. He thrives with playmates who have a similar "baby bull" playstyle, but he would also be perfectly content being your one and only companion.
Ideal Home
Koi's ideal home will provide him with an outlet for his energy through walks, playdates, or backyard fun. He's looking for people who don't mind his occasional joyful jumps or affectionate face licks. Koi is a small package with a big-dog heart and a contagious joy for life. He greets new people with open paws and a full-body wiggle, making him a wonderful companion for those who love to host. A family with slightly older children who can handle his excitement would be perfect.
Ongoing Health
Koi has no known ongoing health conditions and has been fully vetted.
Training & Support
Koi has basic leash skills that will improve with practice. He does sometimes jump up to give hugs, so continued positive reinforcement training will help him learn to greet people more calmly.

Transporation
Koi is located in Texas. We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our rescue run USDA certified transport system. Our transport includes drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI and Canada. For Canadian adopters, pick-up is available in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT. There is an additional $87 surcharge for transportation.
