Gatsby is a handsome 5-year-old, 65lb gentleman who is searching for his forever home. He's been with us for a while, and the shelter environment is starting to take its toll, so he's in urgent need of a loving family. Gatsby was a dream in his foster home, proving to be a calm, quiet, and non-destructive companion. He's a total cuddle bug who enjoys lounging on the couch, sleeping at the foot of your bed, and playing a fun game of tug-of-war. He also walks beautifully on a loose leash most of the time.

Gatsby would do best as the only pet in the household. He thrives on attention and wants to be the center of your universe.

Ongoing Health

Gatsby is currently taking Prozac for behavioral support. It is crucial to consult with your veterinarian before making any changes to his medication, as abrupt cessation can lead to negative side effects.

Training & Support

Gatsby can display leash and barrier reactivity towards other animals, and has had past incidents where he's nipped when at large. He requires a confident handler who can manage him in public spaces and keep him focused. He also shows a prey drive and may chase small animals. Gatsby is experiencing shelter decline, so he will need time, patience, and a structured routine to decompress and adjust to home life.
