Maple

Meet Maple! This sweet 5-year-old girl is a true testament to resilience and love. Maple's journey began with a challenging start; she was found to be very fearful of humans, reacting with avoidance and distress when approached. Thankfully, with the help of a dedicated foster, she blossomed, gaining confidence and learning to trust. Maple found a wonderful home where she thrived, enjoying outdoor adventures like hiking, camping, and swimming, and even keeping the household's children and other pets in line! While she became an independent girl, she did show a dislike for loud noises, arguments, and unwanted touching. Sadly, due to unforeseen circumstances, Maple found herself back at a shelter. Though the shelter stay was difficult, her progress was evident. Now in a temporary foster home, she's decompressing and rebuilding her trust. She's described as independent, trusting, and loving with her person, though she still prefers not to be touched without permission or have her ears handled.

Ideal Home

We recommend a home with children 12 or older. Maple needs a patient and understanding environment where she can continue to feel secure. She prefers her own space, treats, blankets, and the company of her chosen person.

Ongoing Health

Maple has no known ongoing health conditions.

Training & Support

Maple is crate-trained and currently uses potty pads indoors. She enjoys sunlight and following her person around. It's important to respect her boundaries regarding touch, especially without her permission, and avoid handling her ears. She dislikes leashes, collars, and harnesses and does not go on walks.
