Meet Aero!
This handsome 2-year-old, 45 lb Heeler mix is a true gem, often described as being from "Good Boy Town"! Aero has a bright mind, a playful spirit, and a heart that's learning to trust and love. He was rescued just in time from a Houston shelter after being placed on the euthanasia list simply for being too scared to walk on a leash. Thankfully, a loving foster family gave him a second chance, and he's been thriving ever since.
Aero is an intelligent and active dog who excels with structure and routine, just like many Heelers. He has made great progress and now walks beautifully on a leash, rides well in the car, and is ready to be your ultimate adventure buddy. Whether it's a hike, a road trip, or just lounging in the yard, Aero is happy to join in the fun or entertain himself with toys. He does have strong herding instincts and may nip occasionally, so a home with older children would be ideal. He has already formed a special bond with a 9-year-old in his foster home. Aero also gets along well with the other dog in his foster home and would love a canine sibling or opportunities to socialize with other dogs. He is not a fan of cats.
Ideal Home
Aero would do best in a home with patient, confident owners who can provide clear guidance and consistency. Because of his herding instincts and occasional nipping, a home with older children is recommended. He is not a fan of cats.
Ongoing Health
Aero has completed heartworm treatment.
Training & Support
Aero is still working on some continued training and reassurance. He is eager to learn and bond with his person. Like many rescue dogs, he will protect his food from other dogs, so he is fed separately in his kennel to prevent any scuffles. While he isn't fond of his kennel, he doesn't need it as he is not destructive. He might sneak off and hide a shoe or two if given the chance – it's just part of his playful personality! He absolutely loves music and it helps calm him, making it a wonderful way to connect.
