Kenji is a 7-year-old Chow mix, around 50 lbs, with a deeply loyal heart and a bond that runs strong. At first, he may come off a little reserved — but once he trusts you, Kenji becomes incredibly devoted, affectionate, and eager to be by your side. After finally getting the chance to live in a home environment, Kenji has absolutely blossomed. With stability and patience, he’s shown that he’s far more adaptable and loving than anyone once thought. He forms strong attachments to his people and thrives when he feels safe and understood. Kenji is a true “Velcro dog” who loves being close to his person. He’s calm, intuitive, and happiest in a quiet environment where he can relax and feel secure. While he may need a little time to warm up to men, once he does, he’s incredibly sweet, loyal, and eager to please. He gets along with other dogs but can be selective. Kenji tends to prefer calm, friendly female dogs and does best with slow, respectful introductions. He is not a fan of overly pushy dogs. He has shown no reactivity to cats. Kenji walks beautifully on leash and loves to play — especially when a ball is involved. If you’re looking for a dog who will become your shadow and your heart dog, Kenji may be the perfect match. Every rescue pup is a work in progress, and that’s the beauty of it. They come with stories, quirks, and hearts that have seen a lot but still choose to trust again. Adoption isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. Showing up for them, every day, until they know they’re finally home. That’s when you’ll see them bloom — soft and steady — into the very best version of themselves.
Ideal Home
Kenji would do best in a low-traffic, adult-only home or one with older, respectful children. A fenced yard would be a great bonus for him to safely enjoy playtime. He thrives in a quiet environment where he can relax and feel secure.
