Jason is a smart and fun-loving 64 lb companion who excels at training and loves to please his people. He makes great eye contact and truly wants to be connected to his handler. Jason enjoys engaging with other dogs but prefers to be the boss; he can get into scuffles if another male dog tries to dominate him, so close monitoring during introductions is recommended. He is an experienced hiker, both on and off-leash, and would be the perfect partner for outdoor adventures. Jason isn't the type of dog to run off; he'll often "tag up" and check back in with you. He also loves car rides! A volunteer who has spent a lot of time with Jason describes him as a dog who looks for direction and guidance, and despite likely having had limited companionship, he "wants to do the right thing." They believe the right person will be "lucky to have this boy" and will be rewarded with a loyal and wonderful friend if they continue his training and provide plenty of exercise.
Jason was a star student in his Dog School Training, earning praise from the head trainer who said he'd adopt him if he didn't already have a full pack. The trainer describes Jason as a natural "sports dog" who tackles challenges with enthusiasm. He loves playing with balls, navigating agility circuits, and responds well to game-based training. He is obedient, task-focused, affectionate, and has a protective instinct when shown love. Cortez Rescue recommends Jason for an experienced dog handler who can continue his training and help him navigate the world. Jason currently shares his foster home with a female pittie and knows basic leash skills and obedience commands like sit, down, off, wait, heel, and come. He does not show signs of separation anxiety.
