Rusty

Rusty is a wonderful, chill, and affectionate 45-year-old, 88-pound boy with a heart of gold! He was rescued from Bartow on September 26, 2025, to save him from euthanasia. Rusty has just completed his heartworm treatment and is now ready to find his forever family. He bonds closely with his people and is a bit clingy, but in the best way! He does well in his crate when needed, but he's also happy to free roam and is excellent when left alone in the house. Rusty is a smart and loyal companion.

Ideal Home

Rusty would thrive in a home with no other dogs. He has a secure backyard, which is ideal since he can get a little overexcited when passing other dogs on walks. We are taking his interactions with other dogs slow, and while he has been doing well with a female dog, we haven't fully tested him with others yet. We do not know how Rusty is with cats, as he has never been tested.

Rusty has just completed his heartworm treatment.

Training & Support

Rusty can still get overexcited when passing other dogs, so slow introductions are key. He needs to be the only dog in the home for now.
