Penny

Penny is a gorgeous Rhodesian ridgeback mix weighing approximately 50 lbs, and she's the sweetest girl! She is about 1 year and 3 months old and was found in January of 2026 in a cemetery with about 12 other dogs, fending for herself. This awesome girl absolutely loves other dogs, big and small, and she's also gentle with pigs. She can be a little shy at first, but it doesn't take her long to warm up and become your loyal best friend. Penny is very active and loves to romp and play with toys, especially tug-of-war. She is a bit of an escape artist, but she's a good girl who just loves to explore and will wait at the door to be let back in.

Ideal Home

Penny would thrive in an active home with a family that wants an adventurous shadow. She would do best with another active dog to play with and tire each other out.

Ongoing Health

Penny is heartworm positive and has received the initial treatment. She needs to stay on heartworm prevention for 12-16 months and be retested. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on flea/tick and dewormer. She will receive a clean bill of health from a veterinarian prior to transport.

Training & Support

Penny is MOSTLY house-trained and will need consistency to master it 100%. She walks okay on a leash but will need more practice. She has great recall once familiar with her surroundings.

Transporation

Penny is currently in a sanctuary in South Texas. Transport is available to the Northeast US, including stops in NY, VT, NH, CT, OH, PA (on hold), NJ, MD, and VA.
