About Rhoades
Rhoades is a beautiful 1.5-year-old Border Collie who was found on a rural roadside, but her story is only getting started. She is friendly, affectionate, and incredibly people-oriented! She is one of those dogs who seems to brighten every space she enters. Smart, energetic, and eager to connect, she's everything you'd want in a loyal four-legged best friend. Rhoades is wonderfully dog-friendly and spends her days playing with her canine buddy. She has access to a fenced yard for about 12 hours a day and takes full advantage of it—running, exploring, and enjoying every moment. After she's had her fun, she settles beautifully and loves to cuddle. She is newly housetrained and doing great.
Ideal Home
Rhoades is a true Border Collie—bright, athletic, and happiest when included in her family's life. She is not suited for a low-activity or handsoff home. She needs a fenced yard, an active family who enjoys exercise, training, and engagement, and someone who will include her in daily life and provide mental and physical enrichment. A canine companion would be a bonus but is not required.
Ongoing Health
While in our care, Rhoades has experienced two grand mal seizures. She has had full bloodwork and veterinary evaluation, and at this time there is no indication that medication is needed. This can occur in the breed, and her veterinarian does not consider it a current medical concern. For adopters unfamiliar with seizures, witnessing one can be surprising, so we want to be transparent that we have observed two. Rhoades has the typical Border Collie coat, which requires scheduled grooming and regular brushing.
Training & Support
Rhoades is newly housetrained and eager to please. She is high-energy, as expected for a working breed, but settles well with structure.
