Rufus

I’m Rufus. I’m a 2-year-old German Shepherd, weighing about 94 pounds. I’m a strong, furry boy with a heart that keeps choosing people, even after being let down twice. I was adopted once and then found as a stray, and it happened again. The second time, I was found with a shock collar that was too tight, causing open wounds around my neck. Even through that, I remained kind, and the shelter staff saw the wonderful dog I am. They didn't have the resources to give me the specialized care I needed. Now, I'm safe and receiving the care and healing I deserve. I love people and am very friendly. I've done well with other dogs and have experience living in a home, knowing what it's like to be with someone. I'm deeply loyal and just need someone steady and committed. I’m not looking to move around anymore; I’m searching for the forever home where I can finally stay. If you're looking for a dog who will give you his all, that's me.

Ideal Home

I need someone comfortable with my large size. I'm not a difficult dog, but I do require a steady presence and someone who is truly committed.

Ongoing Health

I have healed from the wounds around my neck that were caused by a tight shock collar.

I am friendly and loyal. I have lived in a home before and done well with other dogs.
