Meet Nena!

Nena is the kind of dog who won't necessarily be the first one to run into a room demanding attention, but give her a little time and patience, and she'll quietly become one of the most loyal companions you've ever known. This sweet, gentle girl has a calm spirit and a loving heart. While she can be shy when meeting new people and prefers quieter environments, once she feels comfortable, she enjoys being close to her people and sharing life's simple moments. Nena isn't looking for a life full of chaos and excitement; she's looking for a family who appreciates quiet companionship, peaceful routines, and the special bond that comes from earning a dog's trust. Nena came to us as an owner surrender. We don't know much about her life before rescue, but what we do know is that she is a sweet, deserving dog who is ready for a fresh start and a family of her own. Since arriving in foster care, Nena has been settling into home life and learning that she is safe, loved, and cared for. Nena enjoys quiet neighborhood walks, car rides, sniffing and exploring, running errands with her people, napping in comfortable spots, being carried around, zooming around the yard, relaxing at home, spending time with her favorite humans, and enjoying peaceful days and predictable routines. She enjoys getting out and about but prefers lower-stimulation environments where she doesn't feel overwhelmed.

Ideal Home

Nena would thrive in a calm, quiet household with patient adopters willing to let her adjust at her own pace. She'd be a great fit for families looking for a companion rather than a high-energy dog. She coexists well with cats and does well around children, though she is not particularly interested in playing with them. Nena would do best as the only dog in the home, where she can enjoy all the attention and not have to compete for space or resources.

Ongoing Health

Nena is doing well with both house training and crate training and continues to build confidence every day.

Training & Support

Her foster family is helping her work on building confidence in new environments, building trust with unfamiliar people, managing anxiety around loud noises, and exploring the world at her own pace. Nena can be stubborn at times and may need a little encouragement when faced with something unfamiliar. Because she can be nervous in new situations, she may be selective about who she immediately trusts, but once she warms up, she forms strong bonds with her people. One important thing to know is that Nena can be a flight risk if frightened, so she should always be secured with a properly fitted harness and leash when outside of a secure area.
