Benita

Benita is a beautiful approximately 5-year-old, 21-kilo Mountain Cur mix with a sweet and gentle personality. She came to us from the street, a bit tired, skinny, and dirty, but a kind woman gave her food and water, and Benita decided she had found her safe place. Knowing Benita deserved more, the woman reached out for help. At the vet, Benita was diagnosed with ehrlichia, a tick-borne illness, but with treatment, good nutrition, shelter, and love, she has made a full recovery. She gets along wonderfully with humans of all ages and enjoys playtime with other dogs at the shelter. Benita is polite about setting her own boundaries with other dogs and appreciates when they are respected. She is unfazed by traffic or loud noises and loves car rides, making any trip an adventure. Like many dogs who have faced hardship, Benita can be a little protective of her food, so a quiet space for her meals is ideal. However, she is happy to share her toys and her cozy sleeping spot. Benita just needs her daily walks to explore and enjoy life.

Ideal Home

Benita would thrive in most any home. She would do well with another calm or medium-energy dog, and/or children or teens. She is also perfectly content as the only dog.

Ongoing Health

Benita has recovered from ehrlichia, a tick-borne illness. Her adoption fee includes her flight, spay, vaccinations, and full vetting.

Training & Support

Benita can be a little protective of her food, so mealtime in her own space works best for her.
