Nova

Nova is quite the stunner at a young 1.5 years old. She is an adorable mix of border collie and Australian shepherd which makes her smart as a whip and definitely in need of a home where she will be stimulated physically as well as intellectually. In her current home she is around very active children with very active friends and when the activity level is high, it kicks in her herding instincts which upsets the children. They prefer that she not insert herself into their play with a pointy nose and little nips. She does need leash work, does not get car sick and would benefit from some basic obedience. Her current family does have her sit and wait for her food, but otherwise she has not been taught much in the way of basic expectations. She is housebroken but should not be given run of a home immediately after being adopted. Like any other adopted dog, she needs to be trustworthy in limited areas of the home and learn the routine, where to get out, how to signal she needs out, etc. prior to being trusted loose in the entire home. Currently her family is just taking her out multiple times during the day and she has made the connection that she is going out to potty and they are not having issues indoors. She is young and spirited and will need someone who can gently but firmly assert themselves as the alpha in the home to keep her from jumping on visitors, etc. She definitely wants to please and is an eager learner so taking the time to train her well now will lead to years of having a wonderful companion pet. Nova is currently in Kentucky where she receives the last of her vet work on 06/18/26. Following she will be available for adoption. We do transport to the Clarksburg, MD area so distance should not dissuade you from applying if she is the right dog for you.
