Meet Altamira Labradors. I am Laurie P Campbell and have lived in Florida most of my adult life. I have trained English Labrador Puppies for Dorothy Cavalle at Stone Haven Labradors for over 12 years and have just bred my first solo litter since her passing a year ago. The pairing for this litter was 7 years in planning with Dottie and I am happy to say that these puppies are showing everything she and I hoped for. I all started 15 years ago for me with a 2 year search for the right puppy for the Service Work I needed. That's when I met Dorothy... she let me sit and work with her litters from the very 1st week. She and I watched personalities begin to emerge before their eyes were even open. I learned to read the bold ones, the cautious ones, the gentle souls that need a little extra encouragement. When I finally chose Teddy it was for his heart and demeanor. He became the finest service dog I have ever seen and that was the beginning of our partnership. she and I worked together for 12 years and I helped raise and train close to 300 puppies and everyone of them taught me something. I built Altamira Labradors and Canine Academy around a simple idea: give each puppy the best possible start and trust that the right families will find their way to us. They always have. My passion is the fundamental puppy training and early socialization that only happens in The "Golden Window" when everything that a puppy is exposed to stays with them forever. We have seen it 100's of times, the work you put into those early weeks is the dog you get for the next 15 years. Early Neurological stimulation starts the second day of life. From there is the handling, the sounds, the smells,the textures and novel situations all in small doses, never overwhelming. Safe structured socialization exposure at a careful pace. The goal is a calm, well adjusted adult the takes new experiences in stride with confidence. We do offer continued, onsite training for those interested in following through the last 4 weeks of the "golden window" while your new puppy awaits his booster shots.
