Magpie

Magpie is a small 9.5 lb bundle of love looking for a fresh start and a whole lot of affection! This 5-year-old Chihuahua mix, a sweet "sato" from Puerto Rico, is dreaming of a new home in the DC area. She's a bit unsure about all the changes right now, but with a couple of days to settle in and feel safe, she blossoms into an amazing companion. Magpie has so much loyalty and love to give to the right family, and she's eager to enjoy sniffy walks and be by your side.

Ideal Home

Magpie would thrive in a home with adopters who understand her need for a safe and comfortable space to adjust. She gets along well with other dogs and would benefit from a resident dog to help her learn the ropes, or a family committed to regular socialization through dog park visits or doggie daycare. Due to her size and potential for uncertainty, she is not recommended for homes with children under the age of 12, as they might be loud or grabby.

Training & Support

Magpie is currently working on crate training. As a dog from Puerto Rico, she will need humans who are very committed to her socialization to help her transition and feel confident in new environments.
