About Brick

Brick is a loyal and goofy 2-year, 8-month-old Retriever/Hound mix who is just waiting to find his perfect person. He's been with us far too long for such a wonderful companion, spending 19 months patiently waiting for his forever family. Originally from Texas, Brick has been a source of joy and affection since the moment he arrived. His foster family affectionately calls him "Classic Dog" because he's truly the epitome of a loving, devoted canine friend. Brick's favorite pastimes include carrying a ball around, snuggling on the couch, and generally just being by his people's side. He loves to learn and truly thrives with a consistent routine. While he's still navigating some typical adolescent behaviors, like being a bit unsure or vocal in new situations, in familiar environments, he's a sweet, playful, and easygoing guy. He's also a big fan of fetch and exploring, making him a great adventure buddy!

Ideal Home

Brick would do best in a home with experienced or committed adopters who can provide him with the structure and patience he needs. He'd love to have another friendly dog to play with, as he enjoys canine companionship. A calm household with a securely fenced yard would be ideal for him to safely explore and play. He needs a family willing to continue his training and provide consistent guidance to help him blossom into the confident dog he's meant to be. He is not suited for first-time dog owners seeking a dog that is already fully trained or for homes that don't have ample time for training. He also wouldn't thrive in busy, chaotic environments with a constant stream of new visitors.

Ongoing Health

Brick is up-to-date on core vaccinations and has been microchipped.

Training & Support

Brick is crate trained and potty trained. He knows his basic commands and genuinely enjoys training sessions, which is a great foundation for continued learning. He is living with other dogs, cats, and even horses in his foster home and gets along well with them. He is best suited for homes with calm, older children. He absolutely would love a securely fenced yard. Brick thrives with consistency and patient humans who can help him navigate the final stages of adolescence.
